Late winter in the garden

Well its been a week since I last wrote. Lots of things have been going on. Right now, Stephanie is down in San Antonio at a conference for work. Her mom and my mom,  accompanied with Sister Nuthead, took a little road trip down to stay with Stephanie while she is down there. They return on Wednesday.

I’ve been doing alot in the garden lately. Well mainly building a greenhouse and adding more and more raised beds. Here is a comparison of the garden from this year and last year:

2008

As you can see from the images, tons of changes. Where everything once grew last year, there is nothing there(yet). The one raised bed from last year that grew beans, is now growing onions. The other beds has lettuce(two closest to greenhouse), beets and carrots (next to fence). I super excited about the ‘expansion’ this year. What was once a small little space is now quite a plot. It’s overwhelming sometimes thinking about what its going to look like this summer. A massive jungle of fresh food. YUM!! I still have lots of work to do. There are still 3 to 4 more raised beds that need to be built and installed. But that can wait from another few weeks. Oh and that clay pot is growing strawberries. I noticed today that I must have thrown in a tulip bulb from last season in the pot because it is now coming up next to strawberry plant. Weird.
The seeds I started almost a month ago are growing strong. I also started about 20 okra seeds this weekend also.
