Zoe doesn’t care for bows or hats, but loves to wear buckets!

No time for love Dr. Jones
Well it seems life and the season has caught up with me be able to write. Most of the past evenings if I have had time to write on here, I’ve either spent it horsing around with Zoe on the floor listening to that sweet giggle or resting from the overtime two Saturdays ago and then again during last week. The OT couldn’t have come at a better time. I’m so lucky to be able to provide for my family. Lots of families struggle this time of year to make it and give a little something to their kids. There have been lots going on around here. We finally put decorations on the tree last Friday. I was beginning to wonder if anything was ever going to get put on. I haven’t started any new crochet project. I’m thinking some booties for Zoe. We’ll see.
I’ll try and write more tomorrow.

Pedal to the metal
I cranked out Stephanie’s hat in record time. Well, for me at least. I could have probably finished it in a day but I do have other things to accomplish on the weekends.

Duck was able to take time out of your 326th nap of the day to show some love on camera.

Here is a blanket that Stephanie started around 1995. She said she was 12 when she began. It has been in the hall closet since we moved in, and it sat in a closet when we were living in the apartment. Looks like I have work to do.

Brrr
Here is a photo of Zoe’s hat that I made her a few weeks back. I was really impressed with it. It was the first thing I’ve really crocheted. I mean I did make a hat back in 2004 or 2005 but I really didn’t know what I was doing. This time I read up on exactly what it was I should be doing and voila.

I also made a black hat that Zoe has hidden somewhere in the house and I cannot find it now. It was supposed to be for me but it doesn’t fit. So now its collecting dust.
I’m also in the progress of finishing a hat for Stephanie.

It was supposed to be a surprise but she saw the yarn and I really couldn’t tell her I was using the purple multicolored yarn for myself.

Two great things on a cold wet night. Homemade chili complete with tomato juice from last seasons crop of ‘maters, and a frosty. The chili was excellent. Stephanie whipped it up while I went to pick up Zoe from her Mimi and Papa’s house. The frosty is 2 Below. A seasonal winter ale from my favorite brewery, New Belgium. A small brewery located in Fort Collins, Colorado. They don’t ship anything east of the Mississippi River. My all time favorite from their selection is the famous Fat Tire. And for those looking for a sustainable brew, try Mothership Wit, the organic wheat beer. It’s not my favorite list though, as it’s a bit on the citrus side.
Below are a couple of photos from last weeks epic Blizzard of 2009. It was gone 10am. Zoe had never seen snow before and she was opening her mouth trying to eat it. Silly girl.

A not so ho hum Monday
Who cares if I didn’t write anything yesterday? Not me. I had better things to do, like fall asleep on the couch after watching Sunday Night Football. NaBloPoMo was a bust. At least to me. It was difficult to write, or at least think of something to write about. Posting just a picture seemed pretty lame to me. So when I woke up at 12:45 this morning I really could have cared less that I missed writing yesterday.
I had to make the long 60 mile drive to McKinney this morning to install a few parts on a machine that were ordered before Thanksgiving and after finishing up I did a search for “yarn” in google maps on my phone. Low and behold Yarn Again popped up. It showed to be less than a mile from where I was, so I figured I’d drive by. It was located across from the county courthouse. I parked and went looking for the address. 208 E Louisiana St. The sign read Antique House. I guess Google wasn’t up to date or something. I figured I go on in since I was there. Lots of cool things, some I’d consider ‘junk’ if it were in my garage. Though, there were some nifty pieces of furniture, old Christmas items, and even a hand crank meat grinder. Upstairs was mostly just a wrap around with a big hole looking down. There were three rooms at the rear of the second floor. I guess Google was right, because posted above the last one was the sign I was looking for. Yarn Again. Inside were various selections of baby alpaca, merino, and hand painted cotton yarns. Nothing really suited my fancy. There were some patterns for knit socks and a scarf. All in all a good find. I had a photo but my phone doesn’t want to upload it for some reason.
We won in volleyball tonight. We lost in volleyball tonight.
No, that is not a mistake. We did both. Our match at 8:30 tonight went to 3 games and we came though on top. We then turned around and played at 9:30. That game didn’t do so well, not even needing the tie breaker. We pulled a “Cowboys Can’t Pull Though in December” moment and lost against yet another team we defeated in the regular season. I can’t say we didn’t play bad, but we didn’t play well either. See you in February.

Zoe says, “Hello.” Look at all those beautiful teeth. They are still coming in.

Here is the skinned up knee she got after falling in the drive way over the weekend.

Zoe says, “Leave my ouchy alone. It still hurts.”
